Hi , my name is Al Hiller, I'm putting together this site for my brothers and sisters that are wheelchair bound people, or what I like to call " Wheelchair Extraordinary people". I've been thinking about it, and you should too, we have to be extraordinair Check this out people, we go through more waiting on our wheels in one day then a person on their feet do in months maybe even years. We have to wait, for someone to open a door, to get the keys to a door, and I know you like this one, to get the keys to the back door. How many back doors have you been let in. For transportation like Access-A-ride, or the right disabled bus ,the one with the key, or the one that works, or the one with the bus driver who has the right attitude, and even the right taxicabs, or even a so called friend or family member, that has a car but doesn't want to get their back seats dirty, or even their trunks. Now don't get it twisted. Even some of us with cars, have to wait to. How about that person that parks too close to the disabled spot. Or even parked in that spot. Sometimes I wonder if, there doing this on purpose or is it a mistake or they were in a hurry or hay just don't give a damn. Your guess is as good as mine. To move chairs and tables in a restaurant, or even someone's home, even in some of our community, stores aisles, how many things that you've knocked over in a week... Even some of our community functions, with crowds of people like churches, movies, community gatherings, parent teaches meetings, community board and etc.Yes they tried to help us by letting us in first. But how humiliating. But sometimes just for our gut purpose of feeling regular, we sometimes let the crowd go first. And you know how long that can take. How about when some of these federal funded buildings that are not accessible they still have steps no ramps. We Still have to wait for someone, that has the right strength to pick us up the steps. Even to get into the right bathroom,we still need that old trusted key. So as you can see my people, this is just a glimpse of what is in one of our days. We are extraordinary, because not only do we face these trials and tribulations. We've also have to face the regular day to day society laws and regulations and just being a part of a productive community and regular life has to have that extraordinary patience of Job. Yes I know most of the times it is forced upon us, but some how we manage to wheel through all of the madness. So just to make our ride a little bit smoother, I'm building this site to get your input to make our lives together as a community of wheelchair extraordinaries people a little bit easier and hopefully a little bit saner, and to get out of that rut and the stigma of being the last minority.
